An Australian Bureau of Statistics survey reported that 15 per cent of Australian workers aged 45 and over say they don’t plan to retire. Most intend to ease down to part-time work.
Staff can also opt for a sea change (Trading down) and be traded to a lower level position or employment type. The employer benefits on the trade and provides another option for the employee to consider in relocating to a “slow pace” life style change near the sea side. 457 Visa Holders - Trade Across

The holder of a 457 visa (overseas workers) has finished the term of their employment with a sponsor employer. The worker has gained experience and developed a skills set under the training of the sponsor employer. The overseas worker can now be traded by the employer to another sponsor employer and have the visa extended.
Under 457 visa laws - recruitment companies can not sponsor and contract workers to employers and then on hire the visa holder to other employers.

Over 140 lab Staff lose Jobs

More than 140 staff at Christchurch's Medlab South laboratory were made redundant today after 10 months of job uncertainty.

Cairns Regional Council voluntary redundancy push

CAIRNS Regional Council says 50 voluntary redundancies will save it up to $4 million as the local economy recovers.
The council announced yesterday it was offering staff voluntary redundancies to trim its budget in a tough economic climate.
Cairns Regional Council chief executive Lyn Russell said it was targeting about 50 positions but stressed frontline services would not be affected.
